Surprises
I wrote some books, but now I can’t read a few of them. I don’t need new glasses, so how can that happen?
Check them out — The first surprise was Family Tree in the
Dutch language.
They even changed the title—this version’s title reads, I Was
a Secret.

North by Night came out in Dutch and in French. Again a new
title in French, Esclaves en Fuite. It means Slaves in Escape.

And here’s Macaroni Boy in Japanese. To read this book, you
start at what Americans think of as the back and move forward.
I wonder what the title means in Japanese?

Another surprise came in May 2009. I received an award from
the Pennsylvania School Library Association, as the Outstanding
Author of the Year.
